Introduction to PostgreSQL

This is the third database installed, it has logic to install a base such as MySQL and MariaDB as relational databases and SQL and another as MongoDB which is non-relational, but do because installing a second database similar? the response is: it need to install ODOO, possibly exist others softwares that require this u other databases that not have installed, to part can compare PostgreSQL with other databases and perform our tests

Installation of PostgreSQL

The first thing as always is to update Ubuntu, especially if long we don’t and install Postgres.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install postgresql postgresql-contrib

Once the installation is complete, we need to create a key.

First entry into PostgreSQL

The main user in PostgreSQL is postgres, so we must enter with that user for the first time to set up the database.

sudo your postgres

Once we have changed user will create a user, as we are going to install it in the first instance to use ODOO (an ERP and CRM) create a user named.

Installing PHPPGADMIN

He is a Manager for this database via the web, similar to PHPmyAdmin but for Posgres, your safety is not too good, but this server will not be open to the internet at the moment.

Installation is simple with apt-get.

sudo apt-get install phppgadmin
